Our Role in Engineering
IEI works to strengthen India’s engineering ecosystem through:
Professional Recognition
Certifications such as Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PEng), and International Professional Engineer (IntPE).
Education & Examinations
Conducting the AMIE Sections A & B examinations, recognized as equivalent to an engineering degree by the Government of India and UPSC.
Research & Development
Recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO), supporting research through grants to UG, PG, and PhD students.
National Standards & Publications
Contributions to the development of Indian Standards (now BIS) and publication of peer-reviewed journals with Springer Nature.
International Representation
Representing India in global engineering bodies like WFEO, CEC, WMC, fib, and FEISCA.
A Century of Contribution
IEI has shaped India’s engineering field for more than a hundred years. It helped set early standards and supported research across many disciplines. Its work has guided students, professionals, and institutions through major changes in the industry.
